Dental Out-of-Hours

iStock_000021743663XSmallGeneral Dental Practitioners are required to provide Registered Patients with an out-of-hours telephone number where patients can speak to a dentist within a reasonable period. This information is normally available on the answering machine of your dentist. Should the dentist decide treatment is required then this should be provided within a reasonable period, normally within 24 hours. Non-registered patients have no contractual rights to the above provision from individual general dental practitioners and may therefore have to contact a number of practices before they find a dentist willing to provide the necessary care.
